Revolutionary new additives for the polymers industry.
MegaMatter, Inc. is a nationally recognized, award-winning chemical company located in San Luis Obispo, California. We’re developing a new generation of high-performance, non-toxic flame retardants—allowing manufacturers to exceed even the most stringent regulatory, technical, and market requirements.
If you’re a plastic manufacturer with flammability challenges, please contact us today to see if our patent-pending technologies are a good fit for your products.
Products and Services
We offer a wide variety of services, from fire testing to joint-development and supply agreements. As flame retardant experts, we recognize every polymer is unique, with different material properties, processing parameters, cost requirements, and regulatory demands. Collaborative in nature, we work closely with our customers to ensure a smooth transition from lab to production. For samples, questions, or a complimentary consultation, please contact us today to see how we can work together.
Our patent-pending, non-halogenated flame retardant technology actively reduces flame propagation while simultaneously suppressing smoke. The result: some of the lowest flame spread and smoke development numbers in the industry, regardless of material and fire retardant type. For third-party test results, please contact us for more information. Our first patent application is public and can be viewed here.
A Team of Experts
Dr. Kleiner holds a PhD in Polymer Science and Engineering, and is a polymer expert in formulation, characterization, and processing. He is the author of 37 peer-reviewed publications and 73 issued patents, and has successfully commercialized specialty polymers for RayChem, ALZA, Abott, and SABIC.
Dr. Costanzo runs tailored polymer synthesis at MegaMatter. He received his PhD in Polymer Chemistry from UC Davis, and completed a post-doc at the Army Research Laboratory, developing specialty polymers for military applications. Dr. Costanzo is a Professor of Chemistry at Cal Poly.
Haydn has a background in polymers and coatings, and currently oversees MegaMatter’s IP and regulatory affairs. He recently developed a stimuli-responsive polymer system for the delivery of reagent solutions to microfluidic devices, and is pursuing a PhD from Dartmouth University.
George leads technical development at MegaMatter. A chemist with over 40 years experience, George brings a wealth of knowledge to research and production. He was previously the Technical Director at Eastern Color, and an adjunct professor at the University of Rhode Island.
Roopak runs engineering at MegaMatter, and specializes in design of experiments and material optimization. Before joining Megamatter, Roopak worked as an electron microscopist at California NanoSystems Institute. He holds a Masters of Engineering from Cal Poly.
